Edvocate is introducing an ALL NEW Science excursion in Melbourne, with curriculum developed around go-karts! We are taking our interactive STEM programs straight out of the classroom and adapting it to a fun day out to remember for both students and educators alike.
This is NOT another road safety or driver education program. Read on to find out more!
*** We are now taking bookings from schools and educational institutions. Register your interest early to secure your preferred dates and to keep up with our latest updates. ***
Mapped to the F-10 Victorian Curriculum, we have various programs to suit year levels 1, through to 10. Groups will rotate between 4 stations set up throughout an indoor, professional go-kart centre. Manned by qualified facilitators and trainers, the stations are designed to be fun and educational for both students and teach
What better way to prepare, revise or reinforce your classroom teaching, than to have a day of hands on interactive learning! Every excursion will have year level specific topics incorporated and mapped into the day's activities.
Using our Grade 3-4 program as a guide, students will learn through experiential activities and demonstrations, through topics such as
- ENERGY (Fuel and Petrol, law of conservation of energy)
- INPUTS & OUTPUTS
- FRICTION
- MATERIALS SCIENCE (Natural/Synthetic)
- HEAT & FORCES
These topics will be delivered across 4 stations, with the main driving station focusing on reinforcing concepts and theories through practical application. Students will witness the effects of energy transfer and will be able to experience first hand the relationship between friction and traction - there will be the opportunity to explore and understand the effects of traction (or the lack of!) in a safe, controlled environment.
Whether you are a student, an educator or a parent helper, we are sure you will learn something interesting throughout the day!
1. Our detailed program means less logistics for schools to organize
2. Teachers will be issued a PD certificate
3. A carefully prepared, knowledge extension resource sheet will be provided, to take the learning back to the classroom
Safety is paramount and a top priority for everyone involved. All classroom resources, equipment and go-karts are professionally maintained. On-site staff are first aid trained and have current WWCC. All participants go through a mandatory safety briefing prior to driving on the track. This is not a timed challenge or a race - trained track marshals will monitor and run the go-kart sessions at all times to ensure students are performing all activities according to the lesson plan. A risk management plan will be available upon request.
